Jessica Styons has had a lifetime love of libraries, remembering summer reading and Saturday movie matinees at her local library from the time she was 3 years old. She began working in libraries over 27 years ago when she became a Library Technician for the East Baton Rouge Parish Library system. Due to an almost obsessive love of reading, acquisition of knowledge and passion for helping others, it seemed predestined that she should become a librarian. Jessica is very passionate about reducing barriers to library use and increasing access to libraries. She believes libraries are absolutely fundamental for building strong communities, families, and individuals whether that’s in a physical library building or through community engagement.

My name is Tammy Chaffin and I am a librarian at French Settlement High School in Livingston Parish. Our school has 400 students in grades seven through twelve. We are a rural community school with limited resources. I am diligent in providing information about the additional online resources available through our parish system. I love working with our students and encouraging them to find a book or reading materials to interest them, either from our school library or the parish library. Reading is an activity everyone can participate in. There is nothing better than a student returning to the library and telling me how much they enjoyed the book they picked up and read.
I am an elementary school librarian in Iberia Parish, Louisiana. I have 7 years of experience in school libraries as well as one year of experience working in the archives of an academic library. I have a Bachelor of the Arts degree majoring in History with a minor in English as well as my school librarian certification. I also serve on the Louisiana Young Reader's Choice Award Committee for grades 3-5.
