Loups Garous, Cauchemars, and Feux Follets! Integrating Archives and Folklore to Display Original Children's Stories on the Institutional Repository

Description: The presenters will discuss a collaborative project where undergraduate students in the College of Education explored Edith Garland Dupre Library's Special Collections to craft original folktales and showcase them in the University's institutional repository. The project presents a unique way to use archives to craft and teach children's stories.

Partnerships to Bridge the Digital Divide: What happens when academic libraries, public libraries, the state library of Louisiana, and government leaders come together?

Description: LOUIS, Board of Regents, ConnectLA, State Library, public libraries, NorthStar Digital Literacy, and National Digital Inclusion Alliance are all coming together to pilot a program to address digital inclusion in Louisiana. As many as 460,000 Louisiana residents ages 18-64 lack basic foundational computer skills to take advantage of broadband services.

Description: LEAP (Legal Education Assistance Program) offers Louisiana's public libraries specialized legal "Libguides," training for staff on how to respond to legal questions, and assistance with "Lawyers in Libraries" pro bono events. This training will provide a more in-depth look at how librarians can assist patrons in finding and accessing legal resources.

Critical Programming for Public Libraries

This poster is an abridged version of a webinar we presented earlier this year.

Our solutions to these challenges were not entirely innovative as our predecessors showed a similar tact for swift adjustment in 1918 when the influenza pandemic threatened the survival of our public libraries. Description: Outdoor programming has become a new normal for youth services librarians. From creating an outdoor storytime essentials checklist, discerning new technological needs, creating new outdoor spaces for outreach opportunities, and more, there is a lot we are constantly discovering in this new, niche area for library programming. While this has been initially thought of as a poster program, this could also be formatted as a discussion among youth/teen programming librarians and how they have adapted to the new normal outdoor programs, and provide a space for brainstorming or idea sharing.
